How to clear NinjaTrader 8 cache

Helpful tip is to consider periodically clearing the NT8 cache. Over time, it may tend to accumulate some unnecessary data that could be considered as 'garbage.' By emptying the cache regularly, you can optimize the performance and ensure a smoother experience with NT8.

Keep in mind that clearing the cache will remove historical data, custom instruments, and other temporary files. Please proceed with caution and make sure to back up any critical data before performing these steps.

Here's how you can manually delete the NinjaTrader 8 cache:

Close NinjaTrader 8: Make sure to close NinjaTrader 8 before proceeding with the cache deletion.

Navigate to the Cache Folder: Open File Explorer on your computer and navigate to the following folder (the exact path may vary depending on your installation):

C:\Users\<your_username>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db
Note: Replace <your_username> with your actual Windows username.

Delete Cache Files: In the "db" folder, you will find various files with ".cache" and ".pdb" extensions. These are cache files used by NinjaTrader 8. You can delete all these files.

Relaunch NinjaTrader 8: After deleting the cache files, launch NinjaTrader 8 again. The program will recreate the necessary cache files as you use the platform.

It's important to note that clearing the cache may temporarily impact NinjaTrader 8's performance as the platform will need to rebuild some data. However, it can also help resolve issues related to outdated data or corrupted cache files.

As always, before making any changes to your trading platform or data, it's recommended to create backups and exercise caution to avoid accidental data loss or other unintended consequences. If you have any concerns or doubts, consider reaching out to NinjaTrader's official support or community for guidance specific to your situation and version of the software.
