Q: Changing the Server/VPS Password

Shortly after signing up with ChartVPS, you are assigned a default password for your server's administrative account. Most traders use multiple monitors when trading. This doesn't have to change since the Remote Desktop Connection app used by ChartVPS clients has full multi-monitor support - all it requires is a single tick of a box. Our recommended, tried-and-tested, and free method is via Microsoft's Remote Desktop app. It's available for every major operating system, including Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android.

Connecting via Windows

All versions of Windows include a built-in app for remote connections. To launch it, click on Start, search for Remote Desktop Connection, and click on it when it pops up

Under Computer enter the IP Address that was sent to you via email shortly after you signed up with ChartVPS

Click Show Options
Under_ User name_ enter the username that was sent you in the same email as above

Optionally, check the Allow me to save credentials box if you'd like the credentials saved - this way you don't have to keep entering the password every time you wish to connect to your server or VPS
Click on Connect
Enter the password (included in the same email) - make sure this is the server password and not chartvps.com, the email includes 2 separate sets of login credentials

Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the App Store
Launch the app, then tap the "+" in the top-right corner and select Add PC

This is the main configuration screen. We will make use of, both, PC Name, and User Account, fields, so start by tapping on PC Name

Enter the IP Address that was sent to you via email shortly after you signed up with ChartVPS, then tap on the "<" icon to go back to the main configuration screen

Tap on User Account then tap Add User Account

Enter the Username (for example, Administrator) and Password we sent you via email into the first and second fields, respectively, and tap Save

Connecting via Mac OS

Download Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store
Click on Add PC
This is the main Add PC window. Under PC name enter the IP Address that was sent to you via email shortly after you signed up with ChartVPS

Click on drop-down list next to the right of User account and select Add a User Account
Fill out the Username and Password with the credentials we sent you via email and click Add

Back on the Add PC window, click Add in the bottom-right
Click on the newly added PC profile to connect to your VPS or server

Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the Google Play Store
Launch the app, then tap the "+" in the top-right corner and select Desktop

Under PC name, enter the IP Address that was sent to you via email shortly after you signed up with ChartVPS

Tap on the field under User name and select Add user account
Fill out the User name and Password sent to you and click Save

Back on the Add desktop screen tap Save in the top-right corner.
Your VPS or Server remote desktop profile is now ready - tap on it to connect
